The Funeral Service

Funerals at In His Service Community Ministry
At In His Service Community Ministry, funerals and memorial services are acts of worship, honoring God while celebrating the departed's life. While these services comfort the grieving and fulfill social needs, their primary purpose aligns with the principles of Christian worship.

The Word of God is central to the service, offering hope, comfort, and healing through Scripture. The minister will share appropriate passages to encourage and assure the congregation of God’s presence. Prayer is also vital as we give thanks for the gift of life, express gratitude for the resurrection victory, and seek God’s comfort and care for all who mourn. Through worship, we affirm our faith in God’s promise of eternal life and entrust our loved ones into His loving hands.

Planning and Arrangements
We understand that making decisions during times of grief can be overwhelming. We offer assistance in discussing plans and preferences in advance to ease this burden. These preparations may include decisions regarding burial or cremation, the interment of remains, the order of service, and selecting participants for the service.

Whenever possible, the service should be held in the place of worship, connecting it to the ongoing life of the faith community and serving as a witness to the resurrection. The pastor will oversee the service, ensuring it reflects the hope and promises of our faith. At the pastor’s discretion, others may be invited to lead various aspects of the service.
